Janine has a point, ( actually, Janine has a number of great points, fab use of pictures and a great sense of humour) getting your ‘break’ into journalism is hard. I’ve been thinking about how mine might happen for years. Infact my parents have a family video of me, aged seven, looking defiantley into the camera and saying ‘I am going to be a journalist’. And just last week - as I battled the beginnings of an annual report, a serious need for a holiday and anything containing cocoa extracts -it happened. I landed a toe- in my case a scrawny, pudgy, needy, pinky toe -in the wedge of a door that said ‘News’ and it’s online.
Top five thoughts since accepting this dream opportunity:
- Uh oh, this has actually happened and I might not actually be able to write.
- I have to quit my job (see previous post)
- Thank god for the positive affirmation and long, repetitive conversations with the main person in my life.
- I really have to work now.
- It doesn’t take too much for me to lose it (see previous post)
