Rules to life 101
What are the rules for social interaction now, do we know? We, the generation that date online, end our relationships by text and head to the ‘office for one’.
Have we made up new rules or are we ‘winging’ it. Just the other day a girl in my office came up to me with flushed cheeks. ” I need to ask you something,” she said, grabbing my arm, half grinning, half grimacing.
“Sure,” I said and swiveled towards her.
“The guy I met the other night, he just asked to be my friend on Facebook,”
I tilted my head to the side.
“And,” she continued, “I don’t know what I think about that. I mean, do you think that’s too soon. Do you think he should have texted me first?”
Not for the first time that day I opened my mouth without thinking, luckily her thoughts trailed on and interrupted me.
” I think it’s too soon. It definitely is. I mean now he can see what my life is like and i don’t even know him.”
She looked at my computer screen.
“Sorry,” she said as the blush started receding from her face,
“Sorry, it just really threw me.”
She turned back toward her office.
” Thanks,” she said, laughing.
“You must think I’m crazy!”
